“Please, for the love of all things good, DO NOT rent from Melvin Cosby on park avenue. One month in and he was coming by my work daily, checking in on me every evening in the creepiest fashion, and verbally harassed me. The harassment continued until I broke the lease 3 months in after the police advised me to (I have two police reports saying the landlord was mentally unstable at the time of the response). He talked terribly about past tenants and I should have known he was the problem! I originally paid him $900 for rent and deposit, which he would use the deposit for our gas bill. Something I suggested because he made many remarks about how he was broke and was unsure how we would have heat in the winter, if the bill wasn’t paid when I moved in. He had acquired a bit of debt on that bill. He constantly held over my head was how he paid the utilities. I paid $500 for rent, but gave him at least $100 extra every month because he made me feel so responsible for his unemployment and financial status after I couldn’t get him a job at my work. Very thankful my hiring manager got a weird vibe from him or he would have been around me basically all the time. I had to get away from this person after I set up cameras and caught him going into my unit while I was at work to make sure I turned my AC, heat, lights, faucets?(I know, he was insane!) and unplugged stuff on numerous occasions. Never got a 24 or even 1 hour notice on when he was coming in. Had to have a friend move in the last week, so he couldn’t come inside while I was gone. With that being said, if he doesn’t get you with the constant trying to get more money out of you for electric and how it is your fault, the constant thought of him being in your home will.”
