“About a month into my rental term, I called about pest problems I was noticing. The landlord suggested that it was my fault, and then said “In my experience a lot of you just lie” – nevermind I had only moved my things in for a few weeks at this point. The disrespect continued, and when they denied that the stairs were an object of safety concern, I successfully had them condemned by code enforcement.

By the end of our time together, when I wanted to move out, they asked for more than was contractually due – once, I had pointed out the difference, they conceeded that it was too much.

I may have come across as litigious, I got my full deposit back, but for an apartment management company to give me a handwritten check for my security deposit, I think that speaks volumes regarding how little security deposits they give back – they have hundreds in Lexington, so a handwritten security deposit check – seemed sus.”
